What is an online medical certificate?
A medical certificate (sometimes called a sick note or doctor’s certificate) is an official document provided by a clinician after assessing your health.
It helps confirm you're unwell, need rest or are caring for someone else - giving you peace of mind while you take time out.
Tend's online medical certificate is issued via email. You don't need to drag yourself out of bed to see a doctor. Simply request via the app and let our clinical team take care of the rest.
Commonly asked questions
What is it not suitable for?
Online medical certificates are for minor illnesses. They are not suitable if you need; medication, a referral, an extension of an existing medical certificate, a medical certificate for driver licensing, WINZ or ACC.
Is it valid?
Yes. Online medical certificates are clinically-assessed by registered nurses. The issuing of the medical certificate is at the discretion of the nurse. The Holidays Act (2003) enables health practitioners, such as registered nurses, to issue sick notes within the scope of their practice.
When can I get the medical certificate?
The online medical certificate service is currently available weekdays during clinic hours - from 8:30am to 5:00pm
